Sparton tube radio identification please!
My dad found this piece and we were wondering if anyone had any specifics on it:

8W10 is covered in Sams folder 126, 1951. I'll see if I have it.

OK, I'm back from the basement, clutching a copy of the Sams folder. Made by Sparks-Withington, Jackson MI. Original will cost you a few first class stamps. A scan will cost you an email. tbavis(at)aol(dot)com

Hey Tom, could you give me an idea of what type of unit it would have been installed in? Console? Stand alone?
Additionally, is there a simple way to test if these tubes are functioning? Are they worth testing or are they standard run-o-the-mill? |

It's a stand-alone - just hook up a FM antenna - but where's the speaker? Output transformer is probably mounted to the speaker... Tubes are pretty common. I would run it up with a variac or a light bulb in series just in case... adding a fuse is a REAL good idea too. Caps are more likely to be bad than the tubes.
