1973 RCA portable B/W remote set? Hm....

I never knew that any company made a remote black and white set as late as 1973....wow.

Picked up these two sets from two different places over the last month. I thought they were identical until I saw the "REMOTE CONTROL" written on the handle of the one on the left.

Not often that you see the year of production on a set tag, too

Zenith still had a 19" B&W tube SC sets up to D-line IIRC. Sold a
few of em. I thinks I saw one on E-bay last week.
Are those 16" ??

Not sure if this is a dura module or tube set. Pretty sure its
tubes. Pre UHF ease of tuning mandate. ( d-line or earlier).

That one with the AR158Wr --is a KCS-168XE. Sams 1326-3. Pretty sure it is ALL tubes, hot, vertical chassis. Probably with the 22JR6 H-out, 17CT3 damper. MUCH older design that 1973...a "carry over"...

Not the hybrid, only used in 12" & 16" sets.
Lack of "solid state" label, back style & use of 1-100 ears point
me tward all tube chassis. Hybrids used the 1-127 that had an
offset screw. ( also CC2's used them) Antenna block looks like the same
plastic one used on hybrids & latter B&W sets.

IIRC, the remote was only a two function, volume up-down and channel, one direction. Electronic ultra sonic transmitter.

I used to have a Zenith just like that one on ebay with the SC100. It had a tube chassis. I think it was a 71, making this 73 RCA the latest model b/w remote set I've seen. Remote b/w sets from 67 and newer seem to be very rare.

The volume rocker controls power as well. I have one of those with white end caps, probably for the ultra-modern XL-100 someone posted here a while back.

Could be one of these clickers as well:
