One of my PC monitors died.
Was using it one day and poof, image lost focus and went dark. The unit still turns on, but there isn't even a bright line in the middle of the screen. Any ideas on what went wrong?

On mine it was bad Caps. It was hardly 2 years old. There are a couple videos on youtube that basically say if you have XXX model these caps are bad(they show you which ones). I replaced them, no test equipment or anything and damn if the thing didn't work better than before. That was almost 3 years ago now. It was a 17" Mag LCD Flat screen but there were a whole slew of them with basically the same design with the caps in the same place.

Yep, caps. See my post "Not exactly a TV" under the Rectangular tube and solid state forum. Is yours an LCD or a CRT type monitor?

from the sounds of it, its a CRT. you cant even pay anyone in the computing industry to take a CRT anymore. lol.
if it is a CRT, people give those away all the time, go grab another one. |
