Well, it looks like you've got a television set there. A sort of receiver for mindless images and sound. That particular one appears to be a black and white model. It also looks heavy.

<grin>

Looks like one of the classic 14" RCA metal portables - I know they made them in many different colors and styles, mostly in the late fifties or so. Here's a similar set - http://www.vintagetvsets.com/redrca.htm

Don't know much about them though. I'm sure someone here has more information. I do know that some of the small metal cased sets had issues with heat, or rather the overabundance thereof.

Cool RCA Victor tv

It is a mid, to late 50's portable b w tv. The number you showed is not the model. That might be on a tag on eiither the bottom, or inside. It will need re-capping, and new electrolytics to start off. Also, this set was made when thrther cut surg, as they are more efficient than the seleniums were. If not installed, you will likely blow your electrolytics.

It will need re-capping, and new electrolytics to start off. Also, this set was made when seleniums were still being used.You will have to use appropriate silicon replacements with a correct value resistor to further cut surge, as they are more efficient than the seleniums were. If not installed, you will likely blow your electrolytics.

Thanks, Bill! I just want to find a good home for it. It is a complete unknown as to functioning condition. I would love to hand it off at AK Fest. Value/worth? Any ideas?
