24"? Packard Bell

This Packard Bell Model 2301 looks like it might be a 23" or 24" round metal tube?

Eric:

The 2301 uses a 19AP4 picture tube. He has been trying to sell that set for a long time on eBay. If it wasn't such a long drive for me and if gas wasn't $2.43 a gallon I buy it.

OK, guess the cabinet is smaller than it looks, the tube looks huge!
I'm in driving distance but don't need a major project like that.

Hmmm. 19AP4 is the same tube that my DuMont has, and I still don't know whether mine works either. From the looks of this one, I have a better chance with my own tube since my set is in almost perfect shape cosmetically. Unfortunately this one is in So Cal and I'm in NY.

Well now that I am kinda hooked on old TVs......I just picked up a Packard Bell on the weekend. It was missing a couple of tubes, which I just replaced.I did power it up with the dim-bulb.I haven't checked the other tubes but this is what I have got so far for a picture.I have sound, which is pretty clear. It has one of those picture brightners on it as well, almost thought of tearing it off.Any ideas?

Try adjusting the horizontal hold which might be enough to lock in a picture. It also looks like the vertical linearity is off which usually requires the replacement of capacitors in the vertical sweep section.

Hey, doing good! The picture tube does look a little weak but certainly strong enough to use until the day you come across a replacement.

Well after letting this guy run for a couple of hours each day through the week.......the picture has taken over! The small gap at the bottom dissappeared. It is not to bad now.But yes re-capping is probably a good thing.Anyone know what year this PB is?

I believe that your set is a 1953 model but if you can give us a model number I can let you know for sure. It should be something like a model 2043.
