Sencore CG 135
I've picked up a Sencore CG135 and am now beginning to restore it. All of the carbon composition resistors are at least double the intended rating. I can replace those - no problem. Same with the Electrolytics. I have two questions.
1) The big 0.5 uf 200v capacitor - brownish on the below picture - what type is it? I thought at first it was paper but now I'm thinking mylar? 2. I have heard that sometimes the big can aluminum filter caps from 60's era tv's can actually still be good. My Sencore seems to also have one of those big caps. Is it savable or should I just replace it as well? Before everyone points me to test it with an esr meter... I'm just looking for a general guideline here. The esr meter is on it's way. BTW: You want to use [IMG] NOT [code] to insert pictures into your posts.
