Baluns: voltage or current mode (choke) type.

G'day all, I um and ah about this stuff quite a bit and have used both types with equal success and although the current mode types are 'supposed' to be superior in theory, how do they fare in the real world, especially in terms of efficiency and/or loss? Any thoughts or comments? Regards, Felix (vk4fuq).

An advantage of a current balun is controlling common mode current to avoid feedline radiation and keeping RF out of the shack. Current baluns are generally lower loss, too.
