Looks like they raided an electronics surplus shop... Wonder what we can identify? Looks like a signal generator on the table, a direction finder loop, high voltage oil filled caps, variacs mounted on the wall of the flying saucer spaceship...

I think circline florescent bulbs had just come out back then. If it was one (the picture of the woman operating the radio it does look like a painted one), they missed a special effect. They could have had it light up as she speaks into the microphone.
