TK41s 1957 CBS Red Skelton show

Monsanto ad showing Red Skelton rehearsal with CBS/Skelton TK41s.
Note the old style triple coax and the required cable handlers.

This is a great ad. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Funny, I could not spot in the write up that the TV production was color.

The ad did mention however that the wire insulation was made in bright Monsanto colors.

Red Skelton's production company had some of the first color cameras in use in Hollywood, on CBS no less. As I understand it, he experimented with color on his show as early as 1956. I remember the annoucement about his show being in color back then, not every week, which I thought was strange. The announcer would say "Live, in color from Hollywood, the Red Skelton Show...."

Interesting that they required not one but two cable grips to handle that beast!

Very neat ad, thanks for sharing it.

I owned two of those three CBS cameras... Actually they're TK-40s. UCLA now has one; the other is with a private collector and retired KTLA official.
