Not a big response so it goes on the back burner for now.
I will leave with two songs by the same group. They demonstrate
real talent & versatility from untrained kids with maybe 1 hour of
studio time with a strange studio band. Move over Bach !

PLEASE keep the music alive !

Not much into "doo-wop" but I recall a few. This one I remember hearing in the early '60s and has been stuck in my brain ever since.

I always liked Doo-wop.
When I was just getting old enough to appreciate music oldies 104.3 in Chicago was just transitioning out of that and the very early rock. I liked it and also what they transitioned to.
Even after the transition they kept some later Doo-wop in the mix for a while.
Barry Mann: Who Put the Bomp

And Manfred Mann: Do wah Diddy (more Doo wop inspired than actual)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc0x7xOap4I

Both were favorites of mine as a young child that I still appreciate today.

A few years ago when I got into Zappa I took quite a shine to The Air...If I ever own a Nash I will find a way to pipe this song into the car radio.

My tastes span early Swing music (1932) up through 80s pop and hard and progressive rock(see ELOs album Time or Yes' album Fragile) with all kinds of stuff in between like 60s folk and country...Never really got into 90s stuff from my childhood years onward as much of it was too culturally trashy and musically foreign to what I was used to, and very little of what I was exposed to grabbed me in a "I want to hear this again" kind of way...I can probably count on my fingers the number of domestic market songs of my generation I've heard and liked.
I watch enough anime that from time to time I find something I really like among the beginning and ending themes. The Peggies seem to do a lot of stuff heavily inspired by 50s-60s rock and get selected for the music for various current anime periodically, most of their songs that I've heard, I like.
