SABA radios
Mornin gang!
I was at a local shop over the weekend and saw a Saba tube radio. This is a table model. It's a very large radio. I think Saba is/was a German company. Any info on these radios?? Thanks! Funken |

I have a big old SABA Frieburg from 1953 or so that was talking to me from the basement of this antique store..I was reluctant to get it, but took a chance, took it to Terry, & now I'm VERY glad I did ! Old feller plays great & has wonderful sound. Yeah SABA was/is a German company...Along w/Grundig, Emud, & maybe a couple others, they made high quality table sets. They had FM before it was really popular. I don't think you'd be disappointed if you get the SABA...Yeah, it'll undoubtedly need some work, but methinks you'll have quite a treasure to be proud of...

Be sure to check to see that it a) operates on 120v, and b) has the US version of the FM band. Voltages and freqs are different 'cross the pond.

Looks more like the Continental 420US.
I'll have to go by the shop to see what the actual model is, Funken |

You mea this:
http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/saba_co...tal_420us.html If that radio was manufactured for the German market, the F.M. (U.K.W) should work on 87,5-100 MHz. I see that that radio works also on 115 V. I'm curios, is there any problem if that radio can be suplied only with 50 Hz A.C. (I know that in the U.S.A. you have 60 Hz on the A.C. electricity supply). My Capri beats that radio on the supply; in can pe supply with 110-127-150-180-200-220 V A.C. (eg., in Romania we had in the past electricty supply at 120 V too - we are using 220 V today). |
