1998 Sony KP-53s65 53" Projection Problem
Set runs normal except for some color offset in some areas. Almost like convergeance but not consistant. Uneven in some areas and even mostly in the bottom right corner. Got the idea to block off the blue lens and that corrected it. What could be causing the blue to be offset? Everything else is good. Tried marking and rotating the adjustments on the neck but nothing happens. I did notice slight movement when i passed the magnectic tip of my screwdriver next to it.

Not sure what you mean by "offset" could be convergence and INTERMITTENT convergence problems are VERY common. A set of this age almost DEFINITELY needs convergence IC's assuming it uses them. A few--VERY few Sony sets had discrete amps for convergence...but not many.
But also could be bleeding. Sony sets are NOT known for the best tubes--unlike RCA sets from the same period--which have tubes that seem to last forever..try turning up the blue screen...see if that might make a difference. |

While it does not list your specific model, I think this service bulletin from Sony is germane to your model. Bad solder joints cause problems, and could lead to convergence IC failure, as RCA2000 mentioned.

Yeah, the red and green is perfect. turned up the blue and didn't change. by offset, i meant that it is inconsistantly curvy across the top and pulled downward the left side. pretty good down toward the bottom right. i figured if it were convergeance, then th whole thing would be evenly offset across the entire screen. So i'll need to replace these ics?

This REALLY sounds like a convergence problem !! Mis-shaped raster on a projo on ONE color--is most always a convergence problem. And NO ...convergence problems do NOT often cause an "even offset" _-often it is wavy and weird-looking.
