Velocity Modulation Scanning

I have a SHARP TV from my Mom, it's a 27", and it's currently in the garage.. I currently don't use it because, while it has Component inputs and is 240p/480i, it's contrast is not very good.. Not a bright tube, and was like that even brand new.

But it has a feature called Velocity Modulation Scanning, something makes the picture look rather...........weird.. It's like a sharpness filter, without ringing, but it seems to make things look un-naturally sharp.

I don't know, my Sega Genesis, which is 320x224, looks FAR too sharp to be 320 pixels wide. (The Genesis is Component video modified so it isn't getting any NTSC output).

(This pic was taken nearly a year ago).

It's a 7500 actually. It's dead sadly. I replaced everything in it and still can't get a picture. It's like the case is haunted.

Brandon, aren't you in San Diego?

Take a look at this:
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/ele/3273829263.html

You should stop fiddling with low end stuff and get something like that, it's probably less than you paid for a new Flyback for the Samsung.

I'm not trying to knock you or put you down for tinkering with the Samsung if that's what you enjoy doing, but if you want a CRT set with a really good picture that's not HD you should check out the XBR, if not this one then maybe an older model.

It's probably a lot more tweak-able too, my XBR had zillions of adjustments in the Service menu, far more than I was comfortable playing with.

I'm in Orlando FL.

I'm just ok with RF only TV's. It really doesn't bother me, and I really do love this old Samsung of mine.. I finally have it buttoned up for good and am now enjoying it.
