55 stomberg Carlson

Going on a road trip to pick up a 1955 stromberg Carlson my friend found in a house he bought. Free! Well it will cost me about 20 bucks in gas to get there and back. Hopefully the crt is strong or at the least I will be able to use the strong one I have out of a zenith K chassis. It's the blond in the corner.

arrgh. my buddy sent me a message and said, don't come. the lady they are buying the house from decided to keep all the furniture. They had Salvation Army coming out to get the rest of the stuff tomorrow and now have to tell them not to come. If I wouldn't have had to work today I would have picked it up. Perhaps she will not want the tv. We'll see. If she keeps it the bonus is I don't have to store it. I have had stuff given and then taken back before. Once I was given a C3 hammond with the big Leslie and the reverb cab. I disconnected everything and was going to get help the next day and then I got a call that night with the bad news. Moral of the story get while the getting is good.

Well it turns out now she does not want it. My buddy is moved in so I guess it is mine. I will have to go on a run soon.

My grandma had an SC B&W TV set in the early 60's (may have been bought new in its day), one with a split tuner for VHF low and VHF high. Had a bandswitch to select high or low, and you tuned the set like a radio to tune in a TV station. All on a concentric set of dials. Had a picture of her and it in this forum, but it looks like it got lost when AK and VK split...

Stromberg-Carlson Asian style

I just recently finished a restore on one of the oriental/asian types pictured at the top of the ad and it works beautifully. Puts out a great picture and good sound. I'm pretty sure the other models used the same chassis, etc. You'll be happy with it when you're finished.

Do you remember what picture tube it takes? I am hoping this one is good, or one of the two good crt's I have would work.

Pix tube for S-T

The tube is a 21AUP4A. I had Scotty rebuild the one that came with this set. Before the rebuild it looked pretty "used!" It's like new now.

Well I finally picked up the set. I also got with it a Stromberg Carlson Clock radio. Plastic radio in blond. They must have bought them at the same time. The upstairs room had awesome linoleum. Different colored stars and sparkles. I told him if when he want's to put down a new floor I want the linoleum! I wish I would have brought my camera. So I tested the crt and it came up to "2" bummer. I let it cook at 8v for an hour or so and tested again much better but a little slow coming up and to quick going down so I cleaned it with the beltron and now it tests great!! I will get some pics up some time today.

Very nice set!
I wonder if the radio was a promotional giveaway with the purchase of a set?

Thanks. You could be right about being a promotional giveaway. Either that or they were setting up house and put them both on a payment plan.
