In Romania we had some service of sending images via a telegraph line. I think ordinary people could do it at a post office. The service was in use in Bucharest in 1962. But I wonder what machines they used. I had a book on telegraph and telerpinters, but I don't where I put it

So that is what they were called. About a decade ago someone brought one to the now-defunct Sarasota antique radio club swap meet. Some of the covers were removed so one could appreciate the mechanism. No attempt was made to operate it there.
