Just got a BK 445 picture tube tester
Like the subject line sez, just got me one of these. Haven't fired it up yet, but this is not a solid state unit. Am wondering how new this goes up to, and if I should consider getting another unit instead. My period of interest is roundies up thru the late 70's (and perhaps mid 80's)
Do some of the newer solid state BK's handle the roundies? Am open to suggestions as to model numbers. Thanks! Anthony |

Hey Anthony,
I have a B&K 465 and a 466, they will both check roundies just fine. the 470 is a really good unit for rejuvenating. I'm not familiar with the 445, does it have a meter or just the neon lights? I had a really old one with the lights but I don't remember the model, it would only do B&W tubes tho. Eric |

Eric, this unit has both a meter and 3 neon light indicators directly below. It covers both B&W and color tubes and has 2 different cords with socketc for either flavor. Came complete with the tube/selector switch chart and a Xerox of the manual.
Just was curious as to what the accuracy and era coverage this model has and if I should consider replacing it with a more modern unit. Thanks Anthony |
