Just picked up my first GE Superadio!

Greetings everyone, today I went to one of the local antique malls near me to sell some old fans I had fixed up and needed to get rid of (I'm friends with the owner, and he buys stuff from me all the time) and one of the booths there had an early 1980s GE Superadio II for sale in their booth and it was on sale too so I picked it up and I got it for $44.

I put some batteries into it and turned it on and it was working really well yet except for the volume control pot which seems to have a dead spot in it (maybe a dirty pot.)

The condition of the unit is pretty dang near mint except for some paint splatters on the cabinet and on the power cord, even the battery compartment is super clean!

Anything I should know about these radios as a first time owner of a Superadio?

Looks like an SR2 with the tweeter. If you clean the control
take it apart & ONLY get the cleaner in the pot ! The dial cord
is imposable on these so stay clear of it. IIRC to pull back
remove screws & front knobs. On/Off switch comes through
its hole & a bit tricky. Its actually the front you are taking off.
I have SR1, SR2 & SR3. Only thing I need now is the super rare
model with a cassette deck.
BTW the only common fail on these are bad on/off switches.

Nice! Thanks for the info Zeno, I did get the volume and tone control pots to be more reliable (I sprayed some contact cleaner in the pots and worked them back and forth a few times) and its actually a really good set, it actually works better than some of my other older transistor radios that are "Long Distance" Sets (like my Zenith Deluxe Royal 500H, and my Zenith Royal 2000-1).

I have a GE Clock Radio called the "Fidelity I" from about the same time period as this GE Superadio II, which I swear has to of been based on the Superadio design because this clock radio is extremely sensitive and selective and also has the same features as the Superadios have including a 200mm Ferrite Rod Antenna inside for the AM Band and I'm pretty sure it utilizes the same Radio-on-a-chip setup as well.
