Neat! I bet modern polymer technology and LEDs could make this practical again.

For sure ! I can imagine LEDs giving the ability to change color whenever the mood strikes . Or have them set up so that at slow speeds they light up green , faster they light up yellow , faster still they turn red , hit "ludicrous speed" and they hit bright orange . Maybe someone can show em to Elon Musk and tell him how awesome they'd look on a Tesla , then all we gotta do is wait for the aftermarket companies to pick up on it and we'll all have glowing rubber to our heart's content . Screw underglow , this is exponentially cooler

PS , am I twisted for wanting to go back in time and Date this lady

Pretty neat.

It would be cool if these were made again.

If they never get made one way to approximate the effect would be to take a wide white wall and paint the white with a paint that glows a visible color when exposed to UV and tuck some black lights up in the fenders...heck you could use a different color of the same paint in the wheel wells to add to the effect.

I like to light up the tire on my Harley by grabbing the front brake, a handful of throttle, and dumping the clutch...

Your reminding me that when I first saw the thread title I was expecting to see a 1000HP turbo LS thread...
