There are too many laws and too little common sense in the world today.....The government could arrest you for the most inane thing in your every day routine, but can violate laws on their books with no consequences, take your money and throw it away on things you find objectionable, and pretend you don't have rights when they don't like you...This is a crazy messed up world we live in.

Indeed, you'd think someone would have come across it prior, seen "VHS rental", and threw it out.

At least the police acknowledged how ridiculous this was and allowed him to complete his business before turning himself in.

What I don't understand is why would the store report it as stolen, every video store I used to be a member of had your credit card on file, you don't return the movie, they charge you for it.
