1983 Midland 13" color set model 15-263
Picked from an estate. Probably not used for many years. Works great. I remember having a Midland 19" brand new in 87 and it had the cabinet of a Samsung Celebrity. Aluminum plated remote. Was a great set. This one will now rest on a wall mount stand in the kitchen.

The one here is also a rebadged Samsung and likely sold by Western Auto. After WA dropped the Truetone brand in '81, they got hot and heavy into selling Midland-branded products. These sets produce a nice picture; but, you might want to line up a spare flyback for it because flyback failures are common in '80's Samsung TV's.

Is this the same Midland brand that made CB radios?

I always wondered that but I can tell you for sure that the name design is exactly the same in appearance. Has to be some affiliation.

Yes, the same parent company.

I thought so. Never had any trouble out of these sets.

It's more likely the Midland communications receiver company contracted an Asian company to make some TVs for Midland to slap their name on.

We had an early '70's Truetone portable tube color set and the source code indicated Midland International Corporation; however, it looked like the chassis was built by NEC.

From what I have seen, it appeared to me that Midland acted as sort of a distributer for electronic products from a number of manufacturers, putting thier brand on a large number of somewhat diverse electronic products.

Midland Portable Color Set
Same here. I had a 1972 Midland 16" all tube black and while set - Model 15-126B that had Sharp labels all over it including the CRT. It was a cool set, but was VERY high hour, and the PCB was very burnt around the vertical and horizontal output tubes. The CRT was also getting very weak, so I scrapped it.

I'm getting a 1983 Shasta 16 ft. Travel trailer this weekend so this tv may just be the perfect fit for this.
