Trouble on TV screen
Hi. I'm new here and I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this question but here goes.
A couple of weeks ago, these artifacts appeared on my TV screen. It's a 65 inch Sony Bravia, about five years old. These are vertical lines on the lower right of the screen. I have cats, a couple of who jump up on the TV stand and swat at things like footballs when I'm watching a game. Until now, the only thing they've done is leave smudge marks which I can easily wipe off. I mention this only as a possibility as the reason for this. But the precise vertical position makes me wonder. I'm linking to three pictures of the anomaly here. I know the pictures are huge, but I want to show the artifacts. Can anyone tell me what's going on and can it be corrected? I'm hoping it's not the start of a bigger problem and I'll have to be buying a new set soon. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or help. http://www.folkusa.org/pixels1.jpg http://www.folkusa.org/pixels3.jpg http://www.folkusa.org/pixels4.jpg |

What happens if you cycle through the inputs? Your TV also probably has an option to change the picture to a variety of modes, i.e. wide, zoom, full, standard, etc. What happens if you change the mode, do the lines stay in the exact same place or move?

Thanks. I'll check that out. I go though the inputs regularly, but haven't used the zoom feature in a while. I'll post results.

Sorry I didn't post sooner. Got busy. Anyway, it appears on all inputs, and changing zoom levels doesn't do anything. It stays in the same place. I took the pictures to the dealer, who I trust and have been dealing with for 35 years and they said it looks like a circuit board gone bad and would cost more to fix it than replace it. So I picked out a new set, but I'm sticking with this one until it gets worse. Thanks for the help.
