Question for those that have this model. I saw in the paperwork that came with it, that the set features "auto color", which you can't turn off.
My question is.... when you are watching something in B&W is it a "true" black and white, or do I need to adjust the screen drives a bit? Color is good on mine, but black and white looks more sepia toned. I hated the color correction circuits in that era of RCA. |

Last night I decided to open it up and adjust the screen drives, and discovered a filter cap decided to go out from the last time it was on. Off to Walters, and he happened to have one. A 200mf 400V. Old one was a can, new one isn't. The screen drives were adjusted, here is the result. I love the glare filter btw.. IMO it makes the picture look way better. Kind of like those Sylvanias with the dark face tubes. Chassis in this is a CTC-115, and it uses a 9VBAP22 picture tube.

Hehe. I was given a brand new Vizio flat screen thing for Christmas a few years ago. I tolerated it for about 6 months, then I got so fed up with it that I gave it to my mother. After that, I used a 1983 Zenith, now I have a 1989 Zenith. I have no regrets.

It didn't have the high pitched whine that I love, it was too thin, too light, and you couldn't knock on the screen without tearing it up. Not only that, but it had a whole bunch of stupid inputs and junk that I didn't use. My VHS looked like crap on it, and the tuner made zero sense with all the dumb inputs. Not to mention it was made in china. Just not my thing. My mother is still enjoying it though, somehow.
