Turning a radio cabinet into a tv, a dumb idea?
So I handed a lady 20 bucks and took home a gutted Airline cabinet. I've several new in box 5" black and white sets, perhaps I can marry them up?
I'd have to create a bezel and then use new pots to fit in the radio knobs holes. Doesn't seem like a big deal. So how stupid is this idea? Is it worth messing about one weekend? Radio https://imgur.com/gallery/jrQdAUN Last edited by Airedale; 09-27-2023 at 11:13 PM. |

Only is stupid if is not fun
If we have spare material and time, some "crazy" things can be made, in a moment of creativity

I've seen it done before with table radios that had dial bezels the correct size for the TV being installed. Not sure I'd ever do that to a console, let alone one with a sliderule dial.

The case is trashed, I spent the day glueing it back together. I'll still need to do a lot more repair.
