CT-100 on eBay

There is a CT-100 on eBay for $8,000 in Rochester, NY. The screen shoots don't look too good - too much toward the purple end of the tint control.

Yah, the yellow brick road should be red and yellow, not purple and yellowish-green.

I'm not enough of a guru to tell at a glance whether that's only a matter of tweaking, or a symptom of more serious problems. In general, any CT-100 with a live CRT is worth more than one with a dud, of course.

Before plunking down that amount of $$, I'd want to get more details from the seller (who did the restoration and when, what did they do, etc.). But I assume any serious bidders already know that.

Looks like all three primaries are there, just needs adjustment.

If I had that kind of money to spend on my hobby (hahahaha, I'd be absolutely thrilled to have one of those sets that worked even as well as that one does! Some adjusting would help, I'm sure, there just aren't very many of these sets working at all, I enjoy seeing one that makes a picture at all!

Those things must only operate with "The Wizard of Oz".. Perhaps maybe the movie is built into those models somehow..

It looks like the I-Q gain balance of way off. This is easily fixed.

But at least the CRT seems to be better than mine, which unlike
what it looks like in my avatar, has a dead red with arcing.

$8000 would be OK for me IF it had a bonded 15 year CRT warranty
(the bond being two NOS working 15GP22s.)

IIRC that set's been up on ebay several times over the last 2 or 3 years. Once as "was working but isn't now", one as "sort of working", and now.

For 8K I would expect that to have been restored by a professional and reputable restore, also thanks for the confirmation I knew that's the one that had been on eBay several times but I just wasn't sure. Also sure looks like they're driving the CRT pretty hard to even get that kind of picture out of it I suspect the CRT is on hospice care if you note the silver shiny spots on Dorothy's face tell tale sign even if the Iq isnt adjusted right, the picture still looks pretty soft all over like I said looks like a lot of overdrive on that unit. I wonder what 23 is the chassis the cabinet or the cabinet top LOL

The owner has relisted this CT-100 after the first listing ran out. Same price.

Impossible to tell from the photos if that silvery effect is really on the screen or just overexposure in the photo. A CRT test would settle it.

If the seller really wants to get top dollar for this set, you are right that he should post pictures of the emissions tests for all three guns in his ad.

Speaking from personal experience in being utterly burned by a 15GP22 deal, the best crt tester is the picture on the face of the tube when it's being used.
