What exactly did they "ruin"?
I guess I've never noticed the problem. Although I don't watch very many pre-recorded movie tapes these days.

Well Ed its not the original analog movie on the tape,ITS BEEN 'DIGITALLY' RE-RECORDED -- Doesnt look/sound that good...

I have come to the conclusion long ago I cant get EVERY MOVIE I want in its original analog format and to be quite frank I AM QUITE GRATEFUL WITH WHAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND!! (With how messed up the world started becoming in the 80s)

I got rid of it..... I had 2 copies of it and both were the same

I wonder if this move was released on VIDEODISC,that copy might be the original movie....

I do have some later 90s movies that obviously arent in analog but not many as I dont like how they look...... (The newest movie I have is SAW (2004) which was done incredibly well (For the time It was made))

Last VCR I bought was for 5$ at my local Goodwill in August of 2013. What can I say? I'm not just giving all of my childhood tapes away. The last tapes I got were at a yard sale for a buck each last summer: Indiana Jones Last of the Crusades and Running Man. Indiana Jones was a delight as always to watch while I haven't tried out Running Man yet.

Just picked up a copy of "Rear Window". An Alfred Hitchcock movie. An old classic from the mid-50's.

I'm still time shifting with my VCRs as long as the VHS tape supply lasts.

I dont trust my DVD recorders since they sometimes make coasters instead of recording my shows.

Walmart still stocks them here in town.

Blank VHS isn't as plentiful as it used to be but they're still around. The DVD format has proved to be junk. The machines are about as reliable as today's vehicles. Work today, gone tomorrow. I have a pioneer that plays what it wants to. Probably needs lens cleaned. Now my Magnavox is starting to act up. Most people dont take care of the discs so buying used is barely even an option. They need to quit making all this junk. VCRs worked just fine. What was so wrong with them?

Bingo.I agree 110 percent.

Blame it on the media on TV , print and online and the idiots that say that DVD will last forever years ago.

Not a purchase but I just curb pickup a full box of pre recorded and home recorded VHS tapes with movie probably recorded from HBO or Showtime .

I got to take inventory to see what I got.So far I see Star Wars ,The Titanic movie and Disney movies which those are collectable.

WOW IM LOOKING FOR SOME STUFF ON VHS recorded from analogue cable If you dont want them.. Here is what im looking for

1) The Goonies - 1985
2) Back to the future II and maybe III (I have the first one recorded off HBO - 4/1/87 (Its recorded in LP mode (Instead of SP) but its still excellent))
3) Poltergeist - 1982
4) Star Wars 2: Empire Strikes Back - 1980 (I have the first (SP) and third (LP) in analogue thankfully )

If you find any of that please let me know buddy!! (Cannot find these on thier official VHS tapes (In 100% analog))

Congrats on your find - Thank you!!
