Zenith Trans-Oceanic Royal 7000 vs. Panasonic RF-1150
my wife's grandmother gave me the RF-1150. looks like it is collectible, but certainly not as cool looking as my Royal 7000.
how do the two compare to each other with regard to SW performance, AM and FM as well. i'm no expert so all the descriptions read like greek to me ;-) http://www.radioera.com/royal7000.htm http://www.radiointel.com/review-panasonicrf1150.htm see ya, Robby |

I'd like one of each...Yeah the Zenith is prolly a little more desirable, but again, I'd like 'em both !!

It plays very well on FM as the article stated. But it's no Trans-Oceanic. It also suffers poor image rejection on SW in my area. IMHO it makes a good BBQ/backyard radio, nothing more.

yeah, it's definitely no trans-oceanic. that's why i have it for sale. it also looks pretty cheesy Smokey and the Bandit 1970's compared to the Royal 7000 :-)
have you seen the prices of the RF-1150 lately? $200+ for an okay one. a mint one with the box went for $440! :-0 Robby |

No I haven't really kept up on prices for these sets. Shocking to say the least. I had one that was mint I bought locally some years back for a whopping $10. Then later gave it to a friend as he loved those early Japanese multiband sets. God knows where that set is now.
I have noticed over the last few years Japanese high end sets(i.e. RF-2200, 5000A, etc. etc) have gone up considerably. I have a few and LOVE my Panasonic RF-2200. Best analog BCB DX set I own. |

I still have one of those 2200's. Awesome performer all around. Nearly 30 years old and I can't kill it.
