Globe transistor radio

I have a globe transistor radio says NTR-6G and have changed the "lytics. It works just fine above about 1060 but nothing below. The tuningl condenser seems not to be touching plates as I checked it with an ohmmeter for shorts. What could be wrong that there is no low end. One time received a very faint signal at about 570KC but very faint.
