Tektronix TSG170A
When I saw the Ebay listing for a Tektronix TSG170 Test Signal Generator for $0.99 and "all equipment must go", I knew I had to move fast. So I bid $1 and WON! But with shipping it would cost a little more. But still a great deal for a $5000 generator.
The TSG170 is large- about the size of a pizza box. And it doesn't have RF out. But it has 2 outputs and 12 test signals. One output is SMPTE bars with programmable ID and the other is the selected test signal. There is a surplus of decommisioned TV equipment flooding the market now that broadcasters have abandoned analog. Much of it is like new. Search Tektronix TSG on Ebay. Tektronix has an entire line of TSG's. There are smaller desktop units like the TSG100, 120,130, and 200. And there are the battery operated portable units like the TSG90,95 that looks like a calculator. I've seen them as low as $10 and they'll do ID. You can download the manual of the web to check them out. Doesn't make sense to buy a B&K, RCA, or Heathkit for $50 off Ebay.
