Hey All, 70's rca color tv, worth the effort?

Hi I saw this on C-list, don't know what model. Is this worth looking into? Can anyone identify this by sight? thanks, Mike

The seller says nothing about whether the TV works or not $ 50 if the TV works, okay, otherwise it's expensive

Front of set says it's an XL100. That should be an all solid state modular set I'm pretty sure. Not sure it's worth $50 though.

Set is an XL100 so it is solid state. Seems to have a one knob
varactor tuner so that makes it late 70's.
Set is worth $00 or a little more IF you want it.
Up side its from the late delta gun sets. I dont remember the chassis
## but it may be the rare modular one with a normal HOT & SCR
regulator.

well i called him last night and it is a CTC-92 chassis, the set doesn't power up no sound, dial light , not even hum or releasing of magic smoke. I had him look for a circuit breaker on the back to reset and he couldn't find one. Any ideas? I'm going to look at it in person this weekend.

Its the last delta tube set & the last modular RCA. I saw
very few of them. We did tons of RCA so that means they are
rare or very reliable or both.

The set uses an SCR for a regulator & can be a bitch to fix requiring
all the equipment ( meter, scope, variac, DC power supply ) also
knowledge & patience.
The power supply, horz osc & HV all have to be working or you get
"dead set". There is also a one chance kick start for the horz osc.
to spice things up !

If you look at it & dont hear the quick degauss hum at cold turn on
it may be just the main fuse. ( 7 A fast blow)

This was a rare set and a generally pretty reliable set. Didn't see many. Somewhat pricey chassis in the day. Not the easiest to repair. Saw 1 of them at the shop when I was working on TV sets the last year I repaired sets, and it was a lightning hit. PSU sustained some damage and the HOT blew and once those items got sorted out, and the SCR replaced, worked fine from then on. Set was about 18 months old then.

A very basic set but a nice-looking one, I'd take one. Dickering is fine if you want it but I wouldn't lowball someone just because it's worthless to the bean counters. On the flip side some people end up deciding to just give them away.

Well i don't like weird power supply circuits and it sounds like a bit of work just to find out if the crt is worn out. i haven't justified the expense of a crt test/rejuvenator yet,so i think i'm going to pass on this one. Thanks everyone! it is in Hendersonville tn about 10 miles northeast of Nashville if anyone else is interested.

Honestly I would bet if given enough time the owner may decide to just give it away for free or dang near it. I live near Knoxville and know from experience that the Tv market in Tennessee isn't the best.. There's plenty of vintage TV's on the Knoxville craigslist and a couple similar RCA sets.

Anyways, good luck. It's nice to see someone in this area who also messes with the stuff.
