People to NOT sell your vintage TV to!!
I don't understand this Craigslist ad. Is this an idiot to NOT sell your antique TV to??? He uses very poor English and is extremely vague as to what his motives are. Is this fish tank city? Or is this the next step to city dump?? On top of all this he calls himself a "TV Guy".
What I really don't understand is the "FIRE" part. Haven't any of you seen the YouTube videos of them setting fire to a working TV? Or submerging them while working? https://knoxville.craigslist.org/wan...489902157.html

At face value, he does say he repairs electronics, and has a goal of getting them to work.
I'm pretty sure I've seen that photo before -- but neither I nor Google Image remembers where... |

It just sounds like he's one of us, Julian. Just another radio/TV hobbyist looking for cheap TVs of interest to him.

Agreed , looking at the sets in his picture , and more importantly the drawers of parts that can be seen to the left of the picture I'd say he's a hobbyist also .
Besides , don't the fishtankers usually murder console sets ? How many fish are gonna fit in those little TVs in his picture ? |

Yep that ad seems innocent enough to be one of us.

Maybe someone should tell him about Videokarma... It looks to me as he is looking to try his hand at restoring older TV sets.

I think the "fire" part was just his way of saying "Can I actually fix one of these things without burning it up?"

I believe he's referring to a stigma among the general public that old TVs are prone to spontaneously bursting into flames.

They're probably just a modern electronics person looking to get into older electronics.

Yes it is a southern literary concept kinda like that song "You can set my truck on fire, you can roll it down a hill, but i still wouldn't trade it for a coup deville!" Remember all electrical circuits must be tuned for minimum smoke and fire! lol. I am a southerner and i approve this message. Last edited by mr_fixer; 02-16-2018 at 08:55 AM. |

Well I'm a northerner , and up here we've always believed TVs run on magic smoke , cause once you let the magic smoke out , it stops showing the pretty pictures ......

There are a number of them on YT, just type on, or copy the
" can this 1970s tv actually not catch on fire and work " from his ad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlBpvS7AS6g I guess you found a high level semi-functioning idiot. .
