RCA CTC-5 Wescott

Hello Everyone
I seem to be having a color sync issue with my Wescott. Sometimes I turn the set on and I have a great picture, no problems. Sometimes I turn the set on and no color sync. Then about 10-15 minutes later everything is fine again. On occasion I will watch the set for an hour with a great picture and then all of a sudden no color sync. Its a random occurrence. Need to know where the adjustment would be on the chassis to correct this problem. Last picture is when everything is fine.

Saw your PM about this but Ive been busy preparing for the fall ETF swapmeet and it's hard to put pics in a PM from my phone unless I go through a 3rd party host which is a bit of a pain.

Based on the schematic I'd try adjusting A18 and maybe A20.
Note there are 2 different CTC-5 chassis. My schematic covers the low end CTC5A-E Sam's 353 (it may be on the early television site under early color->technical info). If you have a different chassis number you may want to seek out the Sam's for it.

Well crap, manage attachments link won't open to attach a picture...A18 is on the chroma board (rear most board next to the HV cage) it's the coil can nearest the HV cage and CRT.

A20 is the can behind it nearest the HV cage. A20 is the bottom slug in the can A19 is the top slug.

Check the early TV site if you want the Sam's. http://earlytelevision.org/tv_schema...ams_color.html

The Westcott has the low end "Super" chassis, so the info from Electronic M does apply.

Is the horizontal hold jumping? Before adjusting chroma circuits I would check that the horizontal hold is centered - if it pulls to one side, the burst gate can miss the burst and mess up the color sync.

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. I’ll check the horizontal hold first.

Centering the horizontal control seems to have solved the problem. Nice when the easiest solution is the one that works.
