Toshiba 24" LED

well damn it.....
my first flat screen TV experiance is not a good one. (it was a gift)
Toshiba Model # 24V4210U
24" LED with built-in DVD player.
I JUST opened it from the box this morning...... hook everything up, and it works, except there is a solid green line that runs up ( vertically) on the right side of the screen. Of course the gift was from an older person that did NOT give me a gift reciept, and they probably didn't save their purchase reciept.
I called Toshiba and they said take it back to the store, or mail it in for repair.
I'm not familiar with flat screen sets at all, so just curious... what is causing this, and if you're familiar with this brand, is it a common issue?
