New guy here

Hey ya'll. I'm obviously new here, Name is Chuck. I currently have a 1953 Packard Bell 2723 Deluxe,1976 Panasonic Quintrix, 1929 Majestic console radio,and a 1959 Buick radio. Working on getting a '56 Hoffman "Color Caster" console model that needs restoration. The Buick radio and Panasonic both don't work right now,The Buick needs electrical restoration and the Panasonic has many bad parts equaling up to almost $200 on the repair bill. The Majestic radio is all original still and needs restoration but works and the cabinet looks very good. The Packard Bell works well but needs looked at to be safe. I'm currently In the U.S. Army which makes owning these peices of history difficult because of moving around when I get told to.
Well, Thats all I can think of right now, See ya'll on the boards.

Sorry for such a long delay in replying guys,Been really busy with work. I go pick up the colorcaster tomorrow. The gentlemen I'm getting it from says its completely original,So it does need an electrical restoration and did mention that the set had its back off one day and was pushed into the wall so the tube needs re-built. I picked up a June 1984 Sears and Roebuck floor model set this week and works awesome,GREAT sound and great picture however the knobs are sensitive and it does need some minor work. I'll post a picture of my current collection up in a few minutes then tomorrow of the hoffman.

P.S. I forgot about my '66 Mercury Comet radio I have,I belive its a Philco model, Not entirely sure. Both radios are on top of the Packard set but I have clothes between the two, This is not How I will always have my "Toys" as my wife calls them. We are currently moving so I had to store them in the bedroom to get the out of the way. The Mercury radio is strickly show sadly. I bought it off a girl on E-bay few months ago and she mentioned it was in rough shape,didn't say how bad and the pictures didn't look all that bad,Once I got it home the tuner was rusted up badly,the tuner knob cannot work right due to all the rust on the end where it meets the tuner, I mean this poor thing in my opinion is beyond salvage and just display. I will post pics of the inside as well. However I can turn it on and get a spring in the back to get bright orange and begin to smoke. The light still works though.

Got the pix up;

Everything except Majestic and Hoffman Playing Honeymooners. ( And my Beagle trying to sleep while I take pictures.)

Packard and Sears Playing "A Christmas story"

The 1929 Majestic

Close up of radios and panasonic

Just the Packard

And the dreaded inside of the Mercury (Philco) radio

If you're wondering what the small tv looking thing with the shirt on it is,It is a small Tv/DVD/every other thing player is use to play DVDs on.

The Hoffman has a lot of us jealous! (well, me at least!) It is obvious that the crt was replaced at some point with a newer all-glass type, since it has cataracts. So, replacement with another all-glass tube shouldn't be so hard. You have some freedom-any 21" roundie tube should be workable. But really, the easiest thing to do is just trade that set to me. Why, I'll set you up with a nice working CTC-11 or 12, you give me that old clunker...perfect, eh? 'cept you are probably like everyone else, a thousand miles away from me at least...
(guys has gotta try, huh? )

Yeah I'm down here in west Texas,The Hoffman does need total restoration,Cabinet is pretty beat on some parts,outer only only,interior is fine. Now I need to find out how to get the chassis out. The Channel knob came off and will not securely re-attach. Nothing is broke,Just a piece is missing.
If you have any info on this set,I'd love it if you could share some with me.

That Colorcaster is great! I think those are a CTC5 clone. I know some were, if you have this chassis:706U or have model:B202U, B4041(U), B4061. That set will be a fun project! If it is a 5 clone, just follow most of the instructions in a CTC5 photofact for chassis removal.

I looked but can't find a chassis model number anywhere on it. Found the serial number though. Where is the number and how do I get the tube out?
