NEC -PM 1971A Service Manual

Does anyone here have a Service Manual for a 1986 (NEC) PM 1971A Monitor, or can make me a copy of the original Manual? I need one to fix a valuable piece of Las Vegas Gaming Equipment. If anyone has the NEC Monitor for sale, i will pay more than its worth if its in good working order. Thanks. Please let me know.

What is your goal ? Are you trying to return the machine to 100% OEM as it came ? Back then a 19" monitor was huge & almost nobody had them.
Finding a manual may be damn near impossible. We did quite a few &
believe it or not a manual ran from $50 to $100 Any left at NEC
parts would have been junked by 10 yrs.

Add to that they were NEVER meant to be repaired to component level.
Purely physically unservicable for the most part.
Only thing I can think of is going to the places that do the actual
recycling & putting a bounty on one. Money does talk. I went to one
10 yrs ago & there was a huge warehouse full of CRT stuff.

If it isn't running at some non-standard resolution or taking some non-standard video format you might be better off finding a monitor the same screen size that will fit in the cabinet and adapting it... your chances of finding another are slim and if Zeno is right (and he is one of the most knowledgeable members on solid state repair) then it's not going to be practical to fix.

Zeno & Electronic M, Where are these places that do the actual recycling of CRT Monitors? Whats happened with mine is the monitor just flashes, then goes into shutdown. it appears to be an issue on the flyback transformer . It was in storage, let me know what you suggest. I could send the unit off to have it repaired if anyone can do so. Let me know. Thanks

TV recycling depends on waste disposal policies in your area. It could be the city dump and or private contractor. The private contractors could be places that take household junk or even scrap metal buyers. Grab your phone book and let your fingers do the walking. Some recyclers will resell items others won't policies and such can prevent things.

First check your b+ should be around 130vdc could be power supply, if b+ is good look for a diode coming off the fly back unsolder one end pull out of circuit. see if it stays on, if not check caps off the fly back. do this before you condemn the fly back and let us know what you got and we can chime in we just need pics and more info. I repaired thousands of sets with out a manual or a sams. Just need basic trouble shooting skills.
