SAP settings problem?
I had an interesting situation on my hands last night; have been wondering about it ever since. Was talking to a friend of mine on the telephone. He was watching a baseball game on the Fox affiliate in Cleveland (channel 8), but the narration, or so he tells me, was in Spanish, not English. I looked at the same game on my set; the sound was in English. I asked my friend to check if the SAP decoder on his set was on; he did, and no, the SAP unit was off (the default setting). He then checked a program on another channel (with the SAP decoder disabled); the sound was in English.
What on earth was going on? We both have the same make of TV set (RCA, though his is about two years newer than mine; I do not have the SAP decoder on my 4-year-old CTC185A7 set), and as I said, the sportscaster calling the ball game was speaking English on my set. I have never seen anything like this before. What do you guys think was/is going on? I'm baffled.
