Interesting Philco find

Got this Philco combo today from a fellow that kept my phone number from an ad for tv's I placed last year!
It was so cool to see it sitting in the front room of his fathers house untouched and undisturbed where it sat since 1967!
The stereo and turntable still work, As does the tv although it will need the cataracts fixed.
I got the whole history on this one and it makes it all that much more cool.
Here are some pics. I had to leave the legs off this one as it is now perched atop my heavy heathkit.

It has no UHF and the RCA chassis so I will assume 1963?
His father bought it after a divorce as a present to himself when living on 6 mile (very bad area now) in Detroit, Then the riots of 1967 forced him to move out of the city to the suburbs (Troy) as I was told. That is where it has remained until now.
Shouldn't be too bad of a restoration, I am going to start on it soon.

I just noticed that on the cabinet It says "Master Craft" just below the crt bezel, Was philco in a way advertizing or partnered with a cabinetmaker?
Or was it just a name for Philco's line of sets at the time?

That's a groovy entertainment center! Check out those big-ass knobs on the amp/stereo chassis!

You say you have this set sitting on top of another one??? I'd hate to be the bottom set!

It is getting pretty bad Charlie, I have to stack sets now and the bottom ones all have to be full to the floor consoles to bear the weight. The one the philco is on is a REAL heavy Heathkit console that can take it.
Just wish I could get a few members to take some of the other sets I have offered as it is getting crowded in the basement.
Geez! I forgot that I just got another entertainment center off ebay! The 1967 RCA out by veg o matic...

Great finds dwight! Thats a sharp set, and like you said, its make having the set a little more fun when you actually know something about its history. Seems like that thing must be around 6 feet long or so? That rca combo you got on ebay is a must have for your collection! You're getting tons of combos lately!

That's a neat set you've got there Those huge entertainment consoles are just now starting to get the respect they deserve. Wish I could find me one!

I like the "Danish Moderne" styling. There's something very "New Frontier" about it. Hope you get it running, & get the cataracts fixed.-Sandy G.
