Is this over priced or what?

Seen this on CL (Which I've learned to hate.)

Is this marked up to high or what? It seems the going price around here...

I got a huge kick out of this:

If that Grunow's finish was perfect and was electronically restored - maybe.

As for the other p.o.s. - "it plays big old CDs..."

I can't remember the model number at the moment, but that Grunow has a higher tube count and it does appear to be in presentable shape. Although it's missing a knob maybe they'll bargin some.

The second "antique" radio in that listing is actually a replica of an old-time set, not the real deal, and yes, I think it is overpriced. I have a replica 1934 cathedral radio that I paid $20 for at Big Lots several years ago. These replica radios can be had for a song at many discount houses these days, and many of them will play not only CDs but cassettes as well.

"Big CDs"? No. Those are just regular vinyl phonograph records, although the unit mentioned in that CL listing will play them as well as real CDs. The seller seems very confused.

I don't honestly know if the Grunow radio is overpriced or not; it depends on the condition of the cabinet and the chassis, not necessarily in that order. The seller may think this is an extremely rare radio that any collector would jump on without a second thought, at any price.

I had the same Grunow and sold it for 250 very nice cabinet and working original condition. A very good sounding and excellent performing radio.
