Motorola AP406HW

I picked up this B/W Motorola and noticed it has a switch on it that says "remote" after getting the service manual for it, it appears to use a TRT-10 remote. Anyone have a picture of the remote or better yet the print for it? I did not get the remote with it and I know it will be about impossible to find one but I would like to build one if I can get the print for it.

Ultrasonic remotes are surprisingly standard. I have an Admiral with a transistorized 6 function remote and a Zenith with a 2 function tuning fork remote and the Zeniths 2 buttons will work the Admiral and the Admiral remote will work both functions on the Zenith.

Figure out how many buttons your TVs receiver is meant to respond to and get a Zenith remote with more than that.

Also most receivers have alignment for each function so you could retune your TV for your remote...I had to do that for my Zenith for its own remote since the receiver had drifted off correct tuning.

If that's the two button 'clicker', I may have one around here somewhere. It will take some digging.
I saw one on the bay for $750 !!! star trek phaser....
I'd certainly part with one for MUCH less.

Clicker

I guess this it what it looks like, also from reading the Sam's on this tv it looks like the remote will change the channel and turn the set on and off. So it might just be a 2 button. I noticed that the switch to enable the remote is stuck, going to have to fix that.

Yep, that's the one I was thinking of. IIRC, there may have been a brown plastic 'cup' on the back of some sets to hold it when not in use.
I've sold a few on the bay over the years. Seems like I saw one last year when going through my NOS Motorola Quasar parts. I'll keep this in mind if I ever get back to that area of the store.

It could be single button. Zenith had a single button SC100 remote that would change channel and power the set on and off... they accomplished this by having a switch that would turn the set off on a selected empty channel.... some of their 2 button remotes behaved the same only they added a button to operate a volume stepper relay.

I don't recall Quasar having that feature (but I was a kid when we were selling these!). The Quasar two button operated one for channel step, and one for on, vol. low, then vol. med., then high, then off. The sets volume control would determine the range.
