300 dollars was quite a sum of money in 1946.

The secret to long life of the Rainbow sweeper is to not let it sit with water in it. My wife dumps it out and then puts a grocery bag between the motor and basin when she puts it away. The original motor and separator cup were pretty rusty from the moisture. So far the new motor is still clean as a whistle.

Yes, definitely keep moisture far away from the motor when not in use. I keep the water basin off my Rainbow when not in use. I've seen some seriously rusted out motors doing Rainbow repair.
