Can't tune in VHF high channels
I swapped the VHF tuner in my daily watcher a while back and am finally getting around to setting up channels other than 3 and 4. I'm using a Blonder-Tongue AMCM-860 mini modulator in a rack chassis for this procedure. I tuned in channels 2-6 no problem at all, but 7-10 would not cooperate, so I quit after that. The best I can get on those channels is a fuzzy B&W picture. I tried another of the same model modulator, made sure they were set for broadcast frequencies and even tried other modes with no difference.
It kind of sucks that I'm unable to finish right now because I have to drop the controls to access the tuner oscillator slugs. |

Have you successfully used this modulator on those channels with a working TV?

I just tried it on a TV that's almost 3 decades newer and it worked, but that may not be a good barometer. I also tried it on a 1991 Hitachi and got absolutely nothing, not even on the channels that worked on the original set.
So no one knows? Man, that seems to be the case more often than not. My motivation to be active here was all but gone even before this. Last edited by Jon A.; 04-11-2019 at 01:46 PM. |
