I replaced it with a pigtail fuse and a Thermistor, the same type used in the Predictas. I didn't do anything fancy like a terminal strip (I was tired of fooling with it), just joined them together and positioned it away from any possible contact with anything else. I used on original base so it just plugs in the original socket if I find a correct one. I figure the hot resistance is probably fairly close to the 4.7 ohms and it'll give the set a softer start. |

The fusistors have exploded in several of the Predictas I'll be working on soon so I'll have to rig up a replacement like you did.
I struck out on finding any knobs. Oh well, I'll just go with what I have. I've moved on to cleaning up the cabinet and safety screen. One corner is damaged but I was able to flip it 180 and it's not as visible. Here it is after a whole lot of polishing. I used Kat Scratch Out and Meguire's Cleaner Wax on the cabinet. |

Arg! I thought I was done, but there's something shorting out around the vertical height control. I'll have to pull the chassis back out and investigate.

the moto i showed pictures of here on bandersen thread awhile back has made it to the west cost undamage via the u.s postal service , and is now safe in the hands of the boobtubeman. i guess you can trust the postal service as long as you intomb it in a cocoone ,so they can still use it as a football. lol

Allready did... when i had a 1937 radio sent from LA.. A short trip up to me, but the speaker came loose and bounced ALLLOVER the inside of the radio. Took out a couple tubes, and the field coil speaker was shredded..
The way the motos are set up, i was anticipating a tube jumping ship and goin for a tumble, Much to my suprise, it held together on the LONG trip.. I almost believe they see the insurance sticker and it keeps em humble when they handle it, Also gotta give kudos to Snelson for creating an internal fortress of a box for the long trip... Took me 15 mins and a knife to access the inside of the box LOL! But its here, and it looks and runs like the previous pics shown, Futuristicly, it faces a teardown, painjob, and full recap, rebuild.... My first tv model is home Mission accomplished and thanks to all Steve |
