Love crystal radios. So many different types of detectors you can make out of so many materials.

Funny you should say that, if you have one I'll buy it. Was gonna buy one to complete the radio anyway, but not necessarily hook it up....

The set on it's side was delivered to it's owner Mark sunday. I need to get that danish modern Zenith into the basement* , and give it a date with the variac. I've tested the Umatic deck, and found it works well. I need to bring the tapes in from the garage, and work on the 1" deck. *I Fixed and kicked out immediately post meet my friend's danish modern CTC-25 (the version with the SS audio stage) out to make room for it. The dualette has been restored to operation as has the GE locomotive. Threads: http://videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=269045 http://antiqueradios.com/forums/view...p?f=3&t=321701 The little white Sears color works, but needs adjustments, and has has a weak CRT (it is the only weak CRT I brought home from the meet). The Blond Hoffman is in progress. All the papers have been changed and all the can lytics. It currently will warm up, the raster will horizontally unfold, and within ~45 sec the screen will fade out to dark. I've got no reception and no audio static (the vol pot will make scratchy sounds in the speaker). Thread soon. Once that is done I'm going to either go after a predicta that has been waiting the better part of a year or the Philco 48-1000. With all this work I'm going to have to buy some more caps soon. The 21CT55 is sitting waiting for me to be ready to work on it. Thread here: http://videokarma.org/showthread.php...32#post3184732 I've been sparse on TV time lately but through ruthless efficiency I'm some how still managing to get stuff done.

All youse Yahoos w/yer damned ol' greasetal sets- Big deal ! I have a prewar mighty 2 tuber Arvin, on a good night I can actually pick up somethin' other than our local Angel Modulation station. Also have its 3 tooob bigger brother. I've had 'em for 15 years, the guy I got 'em from said they were el cheapo 'Salesman" sets that if they got "Borried" on the never payback plan. there wasn't too much money out one way or another. They are pretty tough little stamped steel cabinets. Kinda neat having these l'il guys-80 yrs old, & they STILL do what they were meant to do. No, they WON'T kick the EK-07 or one of my other Anchorage de' bBat from their Catbird seats, but they're STILL cyoot as bugs on a rug...
