Found this today. Sparton Equasonne Model 930

Found this today for 30 bucks. Looked ok in the photos, so I went over and picked it up. After a good dusting and some Lemon Pledge, the cabinet looks pretty nice. I was planning on giving it the Gojo and steel wool treatment, but I'm not sure it needs it. I know it's nothing real special, but the condition of it is pretty special. And I rescued it from becoming a liquor cabinet.

Magnavox speaker????

Somone gave me a 931A recently. The finish on the outside is shot though. There were no output tubes (and apparently Sparton used proprietary tubes in these), so I made adapters to plug 12B4s in...That and lytics were all mine needed.

It's not the fanciest Equasonne, but for what it is, it's clean and good looking. It's going out next week for an electrical restoration. I think it's a keeper or I wouldn't invest any money in it.

That's the great thing about collecting old radios , if you think it's a keeper , that's all that matters . And just like all the others of it's kind , properly restored , it's gonna sound great and that's what will make it a keeper .

And yea , Magnavox supplied speakers to all kinds of manufacturers back in the day , and your Magnavox appears to need a re coning or is that just a strange artifact of the photo that's making it look like the paper is gone around the outer perimeter ?

The paper is lighter color around the edge.

I figured out how to drop the chassis down. It's an interesting way to access the "cages".

Looks special to me :-)

Is the tuning mechanism the dual cable front and back like the philco lowboy? Just got one back together and it took every cuss word in my vocabulary.
