Yes, I believe they are the same 160s. Big light blue guys. I might be able to squeeze one into the cardboard-cased can which contains nothing else. The one in the metal can shared with three smaller caps will definitely have to go under the chassis.

I don't know which I enjoy less -- restuffing old cans or mounting terminal strips and figuring out where to put everything :-) I'm such a slowpoke that it's probably a tossup in terms of time. I envy you guys who have the energy to recap a TV in an afternoon or two!

Regards,

Phil Nelson

ctc 11

Hi
I have the same problem with my CTC 11 lots of noise in volume. I do not know if the noise comes from the eletrolytic caps or from the audio. Could it be from the tuner? (does not work with cable only with pasive antenna) every thing else is OK I Will change all the lytics soon.

As for the inrush limiter, mine has been just shorted out since 1975, when I got the set. Nothing has happened. What should I look for if I happen to replace it? I did install a 3A circuit breaker in the B+ line before the diodes. But thats all I've really done, other than a bunch of tubes. It still has the original 1V2 focus rectifier!

Not trying to hijack your thread here. VERY interested in your CTC-11 restore.

I know it was a tight fit when I did my -11 but it did work. I paralled 100 & 68 to get the 160. The one can which is not connected to chassis ground had a busted phenolic spacer so I tossed it in the trash. In that hole I installed a pair of big washers, one on top and the other underneath, and a small bolt to hold a terminal strip underneath. Does that make since? This gave me a little more space underneath. I think I did that same thing on another set I have. You could do away with all the cans, and even mount the new caps above chassis, but that just doesn't look as nice.
