Another freebee set, I don't need.

Another town-wide garage sale Saturday.
I hit the garage sales again this Saturday. I picked up a few items that I thought I could use.
An RCA DTV converter with the proper remote, half price after 12:00 PM.
A Zenith 9" cube type color set. Another weakness of mine, as I have a few, both remote and manual tuning. I feel they don't take up much space.
Finally, a 19" Sanyo, with proper remote, both clean, marked free. I asked the gal if it works. Reply, it works great!
Get it to my place, fired it up and a severe vertical underscan. It looked too even, regarding the picture shape. I didn't think, it was a fault in the vertical circuit.
Rather than look for component fault, I looked up the service menu access code and looked at all the parameters. The vertical size showed a Zero value, where all the others showed some kind of a value. Pressed the volume up and watched the results. The picture spread properly at the value 30.
I don't how that could have happened!

You gotta keep getting the Zeniths til you got all the
colors & the AC-DC model. Neat little sets but not
much fun at component level.

Sanyos e-prom probably zapped by static. Same idea as with
the infamous RCA CTC175 etc chassii. Hash from bad grounds
corrupted data.

The Sanyo is very clean and appears to be a low-hour set. That was the only thing that was wrong with it. Now it appears to work well. The service menu is interesting, as it has several steps.
Regarding the Zenith cube set, that one, I had to buy.
It's a plain Jane white job, as are a few of my others. One of my other white cubes, seems to be discolored and I was thinking about spray-painting it metalic red or something.
I have one Heath branded model that, IIRC is an AC-DC job.
BTW, what colors did they come in?

My best memory is White, Almond, Pink, Blue, & red ?.
The AC/DC was only in black IIRC & came with a sun screen.
Quasar also sold the same type earlier but only had a preset tuner.
Otherwise an very nice set. The remotes had a matching hand
unit shaped like the TV & matching color. Both were BIG sellers
especially at Xmas for the kids rooms.

Maybe the one I have is Almond instead of discolored White.
I was running my latest cube purchase, while I was working with my power tools. Saws, drywall driver, etc so I cranked up the volume so I could hear it. The sound is remarkable, compared to the newer offerings.
