1971 RCA CTC-39 “The Calhoun”

I got this set from an estate sale March 22nd for $30 I think it was. I took this set to TUD1’s abode and the first thing we did was test the cathode ray bulb. The CRT test results were absolutely fantastic, the needles shot up to about .9 like a rocket, blue is slightly lower than red and green, but not enough to make any difference. The needles stayed up for nearly 15 seconds when the life test button was pressed. Checked the fly and there was almost no wax drippage, also the set has all it’s original tubes except for a replacement GE 12GN7 (or whatever it is). We turned the set on and we got sound and then a raster, that’s as far as we went testing the set. Me and TUD1 proceeded to take the chassis and CRT out to perform cataract surgery and that process went swimmingly. I got the set home and put a signal to it and it doesn’t look all bad except for the convergence is way off, and so is the vertical linearity, but I’ll get to that stuff real soon.
