Airline (Magnavox) issue..

Im stumped... I have tested and tested again. I have been through everything now and cannot seem to figure this out. With high brightness and contrast I get some kind of static discharge coming through the speakers even with the volume down and you can see the disruption on the screen. it looks like vertical lines on the screen. It acts like the ground strap is not hooked up to the crt but it is..
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Sounds like high voltage leaking, but what's weird is that the high voltage is lowest at high brightness. Do you smell any ozone gas? If so, it's definitely an HV leak. Focus voltage can do that too, and rarely it can be happening inside the CRT. If it is, usually you can see a blue glow in the neck. I hope it isn't that! I'll think it over, and will repost if I can remember anything like that I've seen on Magnavoxes.

check crt ground

Magnavox uses a ground wire from the crt clipped to the chassis near the screen controls, if that ground wire is not connected you can get static on the picture and sound.
