Wanted: Zenith 10" Electromagnetic Speaker

Hi all. I'm looking for a replacement EM speaker for my Zenith 10-S-567 console. The one that came with the radio (a beautiful restored piece) is basically a P.O.S. and I can't improve it much despite repairing a number of holes.

If any forum members have a replacement sitting around, maybe a salvage from a junked console please PM me. I can pay cash or trade for a number of radios I've got I no longer need.

Thanks,
Ian

I have read about replacing the electromagnetic speaker with a permanent magnet speaker.

You have to provide an inductor to act as a field coil. I've never tried this but seems like it would give you a better selection of speakers.

Here is a link: http://radioremembered.org/edspeaker.htm

There were some other articles about doing this as well.

Best of luck.

Thanks. I saw this article but I'm not technically skilled enough to do it. I'm keeping fingers crossed that someone has a 10" EM available.

Thanks again for the reply.

Can you get it re-coned? There is a good place in Fl called the Speaker Exchange that does it.

Thanks!

I just sent them off an email. Probably the best route since it's only the cone that's beat up.
