Eins, zwei, drei. One, two, three. I got 3 more discs today.
On Monday I was searching on an Romanian add site LaserDiscs and found out an ad with 2. I've talked to the owner and he took more pictures (I wanted to be shure there is no laser rot) - one of the discs had a spot and I didn't know if was a laser rot or just some ilusion created by the light. I've payed the money in advance (that was the condition imposed by the owner) yesteray via bank transfer and I've got the discs today (I was a private post & delevery service). I bought the discs because the price was resonable (70 2 discs + 10 lei the delevery... other are selling them with higher prices) and they had music on them. The discs are "Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii" (it contains the interview for a new album and 5 songs) and "Miles Davis - Live in Paris" (a 1989 concert, with 5 songs). I'm now playing the Pink Floyd one - I don't know how good is the image, 'cause the image is displayed on my nickmane and the modulator from my V.C.R. (the L.D. player dosen't have R.F. output ) gives me some strips on the images. The one with Miles Davis I will play later. I've sayed that the guy sold 2 discs. Well, he had another one, "Indiana Jones: Raiders of the lost ark" - I asked how much that will be and he sayed he will give me that for free (anyway, he sayed that he wanted to put that disc as a surprise). And it's an early disc! Because on it is an promo for "Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom" that was to be realesed in summer of 1984. So it's an 1983-1984 disc. It haves some small laser rot spots on the edge and I'm curios if that will affect the image (have to F.F. when I'll get back home - now I have to go to let my cassette deck at a repair man for a belt replacement ). Anyway, since the old British disc have analog sound, I could test if my L.D. player playes discs with analogical sound an it does (some P.A.L. models don't, and unlike N.T.S.C. disc, P.A.L. discs are carrying only analogical or digital sound). |

The flea market had Fantasia on laserdisc. All the paperwork and even the gold sticker attached to the original shrinkwrap had been carefully cut out and stored in the case. It's the full deal in here.

In Romania you can't find LaserDisc on the flea market. Last Saturday I went and asked few people if they had Laser Discs. One of them (who brings 2nd hand vinyl records from Western Europe) and he told me that he found some LaserDiscs, but he didn't bought them because he thought that he can't sold them. I was disgust and upset.
When I put the disc with analogical sound in my player and the disc started to play, the red V.F.D. display that says "Digital Sound" turned off. |

CEDs and LDs are wonderful for playing on old TVs because of the lack of copy protection.
A couple of CEDs I have are Forbidden Planet and Christine. In LDs, I love my Back to the Future series, as well as all the old 80s John Hughes classics. |

Unfortunatley only BACK TO THE FUTURE 1 is on Videodisc (100% analogue)

The fact that people are learning to cut their own records at home now, plus the fact that we're starting to see some incredibly precise computer controlled mill jobs coming out of basement workshops makes me think that we are far closer to cutting our own CED's then we will ever be making our own laserdiscs.
It really makes you wonder....... |

Maybe making your own C.E.D.'s would be easy, but a LaserDisc needs a more complicated process.

By all means laserdiscs are currently impossible to manufacture.

If so then you have a macrovision protected disc. You have three good titles there. I've seen parts of that Pink Floyd video, and am looking for a copy.
