Old Majestic Tube Radio

I just received a call from a friend cleaning out his mother's house and found a Majestic model 1250 radio. Best I can find is that it was made in 1936. I haven't seen it yet but he said it was mine if I wanted it as a project. Everything is there. Says it's about 4 feet tall with a large speaker 15" or 18". Not sure. Does anyone here know anything about these? Is it a find or would I be wasting my time with it? I can't wait to see it.

It does seem difficult to find anything about it. I'd go for it. It seems to cover the range of 140KC-42MC and has 11 tubes.

Go for it if you've got the room!

This would be a great project if you're up to it. High tube count chassis are in demand. If it's not for you there are others who definitely would want it. The problem with consoles is that they are very expensive to ship and to have arrive without damage and so the best way is local pickup, the definition of "local" depending on how much the buyer wants it.

Thanks guys for the info. I will probably try to tackle this. However I have a few other irons in the fire that have to come first but I will eventually get to it. I'll get back here when I begin and post some before and after pictures. I might need to pick ya'lls brains a bit.

From the diagram it looks to be a really nice set. Has p/p 6L6's in the output and a rf amp in front of the mixer. Should be a great performer with plenty of audio. If you get lost there are lots great minds and helpful folks here too. I'd jump on it in a second!!!

Thanks Terry. I appreciate that and will definitely be on here a lot when i get started. Probably after the first of the year. As a guitar player I saw that it had the 6L6's and thought it would be cool to install a 1/4" input jack and play through it. Of course I would never really do that but it was a funny thought having it up on stage as my amp.....lol
